Zimbabwe’s run at the 2021 AFCON is set for an early end, after two straight losses ahead of their closing Group B game against Guinea. The two nations go to the game four points apart, Guinea on four points and top of the group while Zimbabwe are bottom without a point. In their last 15 matches, Zimbabwe have managed just one win and haven’t had the best of scoring runs either, failing to score in nine of those 15 games. A consequence of their poor scoring run is that most of their matches have been low scoring. Seven of their last 10 games have produced under 2.5 goals. They are coming from a 2-1 loss to Malawi, one of the lowest ranking teams here and it will be much tougher against Guinea. At AFCON, Zimbabwe have no win in their last eight games, losing six, and going to this game they have three straight defeats in AFCON matches. They have no clean sheet in 14 AFCON matches.

Guinea are set for the second round after a win and draw in their opening two games. They drew with Senegal in their second game and by their performance in that clash, this should be a winnable game. In six matches against Zimbabwe, Guinea have never lost and they go to this game with a good run. In their last three matches, they have two wins, a draw and three clean sheets. They’ve however failed to score in three of their last five matches and have conceded two or more goals in four of their last 10 matches. Guinea have managed to score two or more goals in just two of their last 10 matches and each of their six matches against Zimbabwe has ended in under 2.5 goals.
