Zenit St Petersburg vs Lazio Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League

Zenit St Petersburg begin this Champions League group game, bottom of the table. They are yet to earn a point and host Lazio who top the group with four points. The home side got to a terrible start in this group when losing at home to Club Brugge. It didn't get any better for them when they then lost 2-0 away to Borussia Dortmund. Bot since 2016 have they made it to the knock-out stages of the Champions League. With four games remaining, it's already looking as if the best that they can hope for is to finish third and head over to the Europa League. Even that looks unlikely, especially if their next two games, home and away to Lazio don't produce at least one win.  Five of their last six Champions League games have been lost, the only win they had was at home to Lyon who went on to reache the semi-finals last season. Home form has seen them win two and lose two, so on their day they can get good results in this competition. The weekend saw them win at Khimki and keep their place at the top of the Russian Premier League.  Until the recent losses to Brugge and Rubin Kazan, they had gone since November 2019 without a home loss.

Lazio top the group with four points from their two games. Only a point separates the top three, so a loss to Zenit could seriously damage their qualification hopes. Lazio began the group with an impressive 3-1 home win over Borussia Dortmund. They followed that up with a 1-1 draw at Brugge, though they did lead that game in the first half. With both Brugge and Zenit having to play Lazio away, the Italian side has a good chance of making it into the last sixteen for the first time since 2000. Their away form isn't great though with only two wins in their last eight matches and none in the last five in this competition. The last two seasons have been spent in the Europa League and they lost their last five away games there. A bet on both teams scoring looks the safest one to make in order to get a win.
