Zenit St Petersburg did well to come away from Benfica with just a 1-0 defeat. That's a scoreline that gives them every chance of turning the tables and possibly reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League. The Russian side are a lot stronger at home and won all three of their home games in the group stages beating Gent, Valencia and Lyon. That's a record that definitely gives them a good chance of progressing. The Russian league started again at the weekend with Zenit held to a 0-0 draw at fourth placed Krasnodar and they are struggling in fifth, six points off the Champions League qualification places. Benfica had a good win on Saturday winning 1-0 at Sporting Lisbon, a win that took them to the top of the table. Will that spur them onto greater achievements this week? Benfica have had a mixed bag of results away from home in the Champions League this season. They won 2-1 at Atletico Madrid in the group stages but lost to Galatasaray and could only draw 2-2 at Astana. Benfica have lost  couple of away league games too so a good performance isn't guaranteed in a very cold Russia. I think that Zenit can get the win here, whether it'll be one that is good enough to get them into the Champions League quarter finals for the first time I'm not too sure as Benfica might just sneak an away goal.
