Zambia - Tanzania: Form Analysis
Zambia entered the tournament as the third-favourite to qualify from this group, but based on their performance in the first match, they may feel that they can sneak into second place before all is said and done. Chipolopolo played out a 1-1 draw as underdogs against DR Congo in game one of the group and deserved the point they earned as they dug in and defended with everything they had to take a share of the spoils. Kings Kangwa scored the opening goal of the match. Zambia have drawn two and lost one of their last three matches in all competitions, though they did post two impressive wins over Congo and Uganda at the backend of last year. Chipolopolo are unbeaten in their last four matches against this opponent, which included a 2-0 win over them at the CAF African Nations Championship in 2021.
Tanzania got their 2023 AFCON off to a difficult start against the tournament favourites Morocco. Unfortunately, they were no match for The Atlas Lions and ended up losing 3-0. However, that was not the worst part of the afternoon, as the Taifa Stars also saw Novatus Miroshi sent off in the 70th minute and conceded two goals following his departure. Across the entire 90 minutes, Tanzania mustered just two shots at goal though neither were on target. With that result, they are now on a three-match losing streak and failed to score a single goal in any of those games. The Taifa Stars are the lowest-ranked nation at the AFCON this year and are unsurprisingly the underdogs in this match.

Zambia & Tanzania Squad Analysis
Avram Grant’s side came through their first match of the competition injury-free and are likely to remain unchanged in this one. Leicester City’s Patson Daka will lead the line and will also see this as a golden opportunity to get his first-ever AFCON goal. Larry Bwalya was given a run off the bench last time out and will be pushing for a spot in the starting 11 on Sunday.
Tanzania, on the other hand, have some rejigging to do owing to the sending off of Novatus Miroshi against Morocco. Morice Abraham is the most likely to replace Miroshi in the Taifa Stars midfield alongside Himid Mao Mkami. Tarryn Allarakhia is also likely to miss this encounter after picking up a knock in the opening match.
