Two teams hovering just above the Super Lig relegation zone go head to head this weekend when Yeni Malatyaspor host Kasimpasa at the Malatya Arena. Malatya, as Yeni Malatyaspor are called, 15th in the table, one point above the relegation zone. Kasimpasa are one point and one place above their opponents in 14th. Kasimpasa will be confident of increasing the gap between them and Malatya after three wins from their last four Super Lig matches. The confidence that they carry into the game will also stem from the fact that Malatya have not won in the Super Lig since December 2019, a dismal run of 11 matches. Nine of those 11 matches have been defeats, which is shocking for a team that finished fifth in the Super Lig last season. One of the reasons Malatya are floundering so badly has been their indiscipline. They have the second-worst disciplinary record in the league, receiving 63 yellow cards and seven red cards over the course of their 26 games. They have picked up two red cards from their last four games alone. Such a record suggests that Malatya fail to keep composure when things are going against them. Kasimpasa, who have failed to win any of their last five away matches, will try to play on this short fuse to win the game. Their last two visits to Malatya ended without victory. We think this could be an opportunity for them to finally pick up a win.
