This fixture has suddenly become one that both teams really need to win. Wolves have slipped to 11th in the Premier League, while former leaders Tottenham are down to sixth. By the time this game begins on December 27, both could be lower in the table with Tottenham perhaps down to ninth. They had been on a long unbeaten run but now have no wins in their last three league fixtures. Their tendency to concede late goals cost them a win at Crystal Palace and a draw at Anfield. Then on Sunday, they went down 2-0 at home to Leicester to drop down to sixth and six points behind leaders Liverpool. They did bounce back with a 3-1 win at Stoke in the EFL Cup quarter final, so it's not all doom and gloom. Nor is getting Brentford in the last four. Away form in the Premier League this season has seen only that loss at Anfield. They have won four of their seven games but only got two points from the last three.

Wolves are also struggling at the moment and lost 2-1 at Burnley on Monday. That was their third defeat in the last four league games played, the other though was a 2-1 home win over Chelsea. Wolves begin this set of Premier League games ten points above the bottom three and only six points adrift of the final Champions League place. It's not an easy festive period though with this game being followed by a trip to Manchester United. They have only lost one of their six home league games but kept just one clean sheet in the last four. This isn't easy to predict but Tottenham will want to get back into winning ways or their title challenge will be in big trouble, go for them to get the away win.
