Wolves vs Olympiacos Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League
by Steve Ashfield | in Europa League Predictions
Wolves battled hard in the English Premier League but ended in seventh place and out of the Europa League qualifying places. They host Olympiakos in the second leg of this Europa League last sixteen tie with the scores level at 1-1. They can't qualify for the Europa League next season but winning it this year and qualifying for the Champions League is their new target. It's been a long season of course due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first game of this Wolves Europa League campaign took place on July 25 of last year. This is their 16th game and only two have been lost. They were at home to Braga in the group stages and away at Espanyol in the last 32 after the home leg had been won 4-0. The first leg of this tie ended 1-1 in Greece, way back on March 12th. Wolves had to come from one down to get that draw. Home form in the Europa League has seen them win six and lose to Braga. 17 goals have been scored and just two conceded. Both of their last two home Europa League games have been won 4-0. The Premier League season saw them only lose one of their last four games, a final day 2-0 loss at Chelsea. Their home record saw them lose just two of their last ten league games, being beaten by Liverpool and Arsenal.
Olympiakos will be in the Champions League next season. They won the main Super League by seven points and didn't lose any of their 26 games. That took them into the Championship group where they kept on winning ending up winning overall by 18 points. That unbeaten record went though as they lost to second-placed PAOK. Their Champions League campaign was a tough one this season. They made it through to the group stage but only earned four points with Tottenham and Bayern Munich qualifying. Olympiakos grabbed third spot above Red Star Belgrade but all four of their points were earned at home with nine goals conceded in three away games. Transferred into the Europa League, the Greek side knocked out Premier League Arsenal in the last 32. They lost the home leg, then won the second leg at the Emirates 2-1 after extra time with their winner coming in the 120th minute. That performance will show Wolves that they face a real battle in this tie to progress to a quarter final in Germany against either Sevilla or Roma. Three of the Greek side's last five away games in this competition have been lost and the tip here is for Wolves to get the win.

Our Wolves vs Olympiacos Prediction
Wolves have pressure on them now after failing to qualify for next season's Europa League. They had a chance of making it into the top four but improved form by Tottenham and Manchester United saw them finish in seventh. Now they have to win the Europa League to get European football next season. With this tough game followed by either Sevilla or Roma in the last eight and possibly Manchester United in the semi-finals, they have their work cut out. Home form in the Europa League has been strong this season and they will make life difficult for the Greek side. The away goal from the first leg is a bonus for them. Olympiakos will be in the Champions League next season and beat Arsenal in the last 32. Their away form isn't that great in Europe and Wolves can be backed to get the win here.
