Wolves vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
It is over a month now since Manchester City played competitively and that will come to an end on Monday when they tour West Midlands for an away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. It is Week 2 of the Premier League but this will be the first match of the season for City, who last played in mid August as they lost to Lyon in the Champions league semis. As for Wolves, this will be their third match of the season; they opened with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United in the league before falling 1-0 to Stoke City in the Carabao Cup. A few things have happened at Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent days; manager Nuno Esprito has signed a new deal and key forward Diogo Jota has left for Liverpool while Ki-jana Hoever is set to join from Liverpool. The exit from Carabao Cup might have left a few red faces at Molineux but the manager will hope the good form his team has had against Manchester City in recent times comes to play here. Wolves have lost once to City in their four meetings since promotion and last season they beat City home and away, scoring five goals. It has however been a bit shaky for Wolves in recent times – they go to this game on four wins in their last eight matches and having failed to score in three of their last five matches should be a concern. They however have a fairly good run in their recent league assignments, winning three of their last five and losing just once, while scoring in four of the five. The team enjoyed a good scoring run at home last season, notching goals in 16 of their 19 matches at the Molineux. Among the teams that lost there was City, as Wolves came from two goals down to hit 10-man City 3-2.
Manchester City ended their campaign in an anti-climax last season, only winning the Carabao Cup. They finished a distant second in the league, lost to Arsenal in the FA Cup semis and Lyon in the Champions League semis. They will be hoping for a better campaign this term, but will have to do without Leroy Sane and David Silva who have already left. As they start the campaign, they will also be without Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva but new signing Nathan Ake could start. Their capitulation in the 3-2 defeat in their last trip here will still ring loud as they head out for their first game of the season and a positive start will be key. City head here having failed to score in just two of their last 14 matches but will be keen on stretching their impressive scoring run in the Premier League. In City’s last five league matches, they have scored 21 goals. With the duration they have been out of action, as well as the quality of opposition they face, they may not score as many as they have done in their recent matches but they will still have the quality. The Citizens have five straight wins in the league, but their away form is a bit shaky, with four losses in their last seven away matches. They won 11 of their 19 away league matches last season and failed to score in just three of the 19. In 12 of the 19, they scored two or more goals.

Our Wolves vs Manchester City Prediction
Manchester City start their season against one of the toughest opponents to face away from home. Last season they lost in both legs of this clash and Wolves will feel mentally able to match this star studded City side, making this a very interesting affair. One factor that stands out here is the two sides’ returns in attack. City failed to score in only three of their 19 away league matches last season and Wolves had the same stats at home. Going to this game, Wolves have scored two or more in three of their last five league matches including their opening win over Sheffield. City have scored twice or more in their last five league matches and with these, we feel a both teams to score bet looks very probable here. With the attacking display set to grace the Molineux on Monday, going for a 2-2 draw on the correct score scale could pass.
