Wolverhampton Wanderers will welcome Chelsea in their next league match, with both sides eyeing three points after a rather tough run of matches. Wolves head to this game on 24 points, and placed eighth, while Chelsea are third with 37 points. Wolves have invested a lot in defence and to some extent it is paying off, but as a sacrifice to their attack. They haven’t been impressive in attack, only scoring more than the bottom placed side. Defensively, they are the fourth best, only bettered by the top three sides in the league standings. Only twice in their last 10 matches have they conceded more than a goal and they have four clean sheets in their last six matches. Each of their last seven matches has produced under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea are coming from another underwhelming show; a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Everton. That was their sixth straight game without a clean sheet and they haven’t managed a comfortable win for a while now. Both sides have scored in their last five league matches, and two of them have ended in under 2.5 goals. Injuries to key players have really slowed down the team and the great link up play that defined the team in the early stages of the season seems to be dying down. It will be tough taking on this defensively organized Wolves side. Three of their last five meetings with Wolverhampton Wanderers have also produced under 2.5 goals and this may follow in that line.
