Wolves face Brighton in a key FA Cup Fifth Round tie on Wednesday night (Kick off 7.45pm) and it is fair to say that there is not a more evenly matched contest in any of the other seven Fifth Round ties in the competition. Brighton lie 7th in the Premier League table on 38 points, just a point and one place above Wolves in the table. The Seagulls clinched what was a good point against Everton at the weekend, coming from behind with 10 men to clinch a 1-1 draw thanks to skipper Lewis Dunk's last gasp headed equaliser. The week prior to that the Seagulls had thrashed Sheffield United 5-0 at Bramall Lane, ending a run of two straight away defeats. They also played Wolves in the Premier League only recently, drawing 0-0 at the AMEX Stadium, but they have already beaten Wolves at Molineux earlier in the season in a resounding 4-1 success in August.

Having won three of their last four and as the home team in this fixture, Wolves will feel that they should probably head into the game as favourites. Gary O'Neill's team have followed their 2-1 success at Tottenham with a battling 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday. That win ended a run of two successive home defeats in the league for Wolves and it was the first clean sheet kept by the team since their 2-0 FA Cup 4th Round win over West Brom at the Hawthorns. The Black and Gold are going to have to overcome a poor recent record against Brighton if they are to progress in the competition, but their only previous FA Cup clash back in 1979 finished in a 3-2 win for Wolves. Although that result will have no influence on the outcome of this game.
