Wolfsburg’s early season form has abandoned them and the team is really struggling ahead of the home match against Freiburg. Wolfsburg, who at some point sat atop the Bundesliga standings, are now sixth on 13 points while Freiburg have 16 points, in fourth place. Going to this game, Wolfsburg have no win in their last seven matches, and in the last five they have four losses. In their latest outing, they suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Salzburg in the Champions League. They’ve conceded two or more goals in each of the last three matches and have no clean sheet in the last six. In the last five league matches they’ve however failed to score in just one, while at home, they’ve scored in all four this season in the league.

Freiburg are the only remaining unbeaten side in the Bundesliga so far, and they’ve won four of their eight matches. They are coming from a 1-1 draw with Leipzig, a game in which they had to come from a goal down to level. Freiburg have improved a lot this season, after their 10th placed finish last season. So far, they have the best defence in the league, having conceded just six goals and among the teams they’ve beaten already, is Borussia Dortmund.
