Bayern Munich will look to keep the pressure on the league leaders when they travel to take on Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening. The hosts are currently ninth in the league standings, while the visitors are second. Wolfsburg have made a steady start to the 2023-24 season and will be looking to kick on as we head into the second half of the campaign. They have recorded 19 points in 15 games this season, leaving them five points off the top six and ten clear of the drop. The hosts claimed an important 1-0 win over Darmstadt at the weekend to snap up a run of three consecutive losses in all competitions. During that time, they were also knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Borussia M’gladbach at the start of the month. The Wolves strength has been on their home patch this season as they have earned 13 of their 19-point tally at Volkswagen Arena. However, they now face an opponent that they have failed to beat since 2015, which sees them enter the match as the clear underdogs.

The visitors are on 35 points, four behind the leaders, though they do have a game in hand on Die Werkself. The Bavarians sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League following a 1-0 win over Manchester United last week and followed up with a 3-0 victory over Stuttgart in the league over the weekend. The only loss Bayern have conceded in the league this season was to Eintracht Frankfurt following the international break. The defending champions won the last encounter between these sides 4-2 at this venue last season and are unbeaten in their last 16 matches against Wolfsburg, including 14 wins and two draws.
