Wigan vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in FA Cup Predictions
A 4-0 win in Basel has virtually confirmed a place for Manchester City in the last eight of the Champions League. Now they travel to League One promotion chasers Wigan Athletic knowing another win will take them into the quarter finals of the FA Cup. City have so far beaten Burnley and Cardiff to reach the fifth round scoring six goals in the process. They will of course play a weakened side but this match comes six days after their Champions League tie in Switzerland and six days before the Carabao Cup Final against Arsenal. It seems whatever side Pep Guardiola puts out will be capable of beating Wigan and progressing to the next round and City have only two defeats in their last 24 away games in all competitions and over 90 minutes have only lost one of their last 14 FA Cup ties, when playing a virtual youth team at Chelsea. Wigan Athletic are a real yo-yo team at present, their life basically seems to be getting relegated from the Championship, getting promoted back right away, ending up in the bottom three again and then winning promotion again. It's true to say that a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since they beat Manchester City at Wembley to win the FA Cup in 2013. Even after that big win, they got relegated from the Premier League a few days later. The sides have met twice since that game with City beating Wigan 5-0 in the League Cup a few months after their Wembley triumph and another famous Wigan win when they beat City away in the 2013-14 FA Cup quarter final. This season they needed a replay to get past National League side Flyde but have already knocked out Premier League Bournemouth and West Ham, both who of course fielded weakened sides. Wigan have been top of League One for most of the season but with this game on their minds, they have lost their last two league matches and slipped to second place. A weakened City side could probably beat most Premier League teams let alone Wigan, go for them to win this match and lead at half and full time.

Our Wigan vs Manchester City Prediction
Manchester City will face a raucous atmosphere but they have more than enough strength to get past League One Wigan Athletic. A weakened side will be played of course but they can get through this tie and into the last eight of the FA Cup, back them to be ahead at half and full time.
