Western United vs Melbourne City Prediction & Betting Tips - A-League

Western United won the play-offs last year but may miss out this season. They are eighth in the A-League and host Melbourne City who are top of the table. The home side have spent most of the season towards the bottom of the A-League. With two games of the regular season remaining, they are two places and three points behind the final play-off position but with an inferior goal difference. Last weekend saw them get a surprise win at second placed Adelaide United. Now they take on the side who will finish top of the main season, before a final game at Perth Glory. Even two wins might not be enough to get them into the top six. Western United only earned one point from the three games played before that win at Adelaide. Home form has been letting them down with three of the last four A-League fixtures being lost. Four of the last seven have seen both teams get on the scoresheet.

Melbourne City begin the weekend with an eight point lead at the top of the A-League. They will enter the play-offs at the semi-final stage and it'll be interesting to see how they approach this match. Their success this season has been mainly achieved by their outstanding home form. They have won nine out of 12 at Casey Fields and are the only side in the A-League not to lose on home soil. While they have the best away record in the league, only five out of 12 games have been won with three defeats. Melbourne City have gone four away A-League matches without a win. Two defeats have been followed by a couple of draws. Both teams have scored in nine of their last ten away fixtures and each of their last 12 league matches.
