West Ham United welcome Manchester City to the London Stadium for the Premier League's early kick-off on Saturday. The two sides are level on (seven) points with the Hammers having played a game more. A positive goal difference of +4 puts West Ham ninth, while City, with a goal difference of zero, are 11th. West Ham's most recent league outing saw them three goals down to Spurs by the 16th minute yet somehow level at the end after a ten-minute salvo before the final whistle. David Moyes was literally jumping for joy at the comeback but he will know that dramatic turnarounds like that don't come every week. They cannot start as poorly against City. Unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, City have yet to acquire the forceful air of seasons past. They have won three of their last four away matches but the most recent was a 1-1 draw at Leeds in which they were matched in every department. Moyes doesn't set up his side in the same style as Bielsa but we're not seeing the performances we've come to associate with his tactics. West Ham have been free-scoring, hitting at least three goals in five of their last seven matches.

At home, West Ham have scored 12 goals in their last three games, all of which were wins. It's an impressive statistic that should probably be taken with a pinch of salt as two of those victories were in the League Cup against lower-division opposition. City have won their last 11 matches against West Ham, insinuating that they could let muscle memory take over and still come away with three points. Yet City have only kept two clean sheets in their last nine games. This will give the hosts hope. Back the first half to feature over 1.5 goals.
