West Ham United will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently in ninth place in the league standings, while the visitors are down in 16th spot. After a league season to forget, West Ham have begun the current campaign much more promisingly. They have taken 14 points from their first nine games and are just two points behind Newcastle in sixth place. However, The Hammers need a good result here. They lost their midweek Conference League match 2-1 to Olympiakos, which extended their recent winless run to three matches in all competitions. That includes a draw to Newcastle and a loss to Aston Villa either side of the international break. At home, though, West Ham have been much better, losing only to Manchester City so far this season. The hosts won the last match between these sides 2-0 last season and are the favourites in this one as well. 

Meanwhile, it has been a difficult couple of years for Everton and based on their early-season record, they are likely to struggle again this term. They have managed just seven points in their first nine games and are just three points above Burnley and the drop zone. The Toffees were beaten 2-0 in the Merseyside Derby last week, marking their sixth defeat in the league this term. Their only wins this season came against Brentford and Bournemouth. In their four away matches, Everton have won one, drawn one and lost two. They have also let in 14 goals already this season while scoring just nine. The visitors have lost on their last two visits to the London Stadium and will need a big performance here, or they could find themselves slipping below the dotted line by the end of the weekend.
