West Ham United will be back in the chase for a top four place when they host struggling Everton in their next game after the international break. On to this game, West Ham have posted 48 points so far, and are placed seventh while Everton are 17th with 25 points. The hosts are looking to close in on the top four, currently being six points back and having played a game more. In their last match, they fell to a fellow top four contender,  Tottenham Hotspur and will hope to make up here. They will however need an improvement on their recent run, having lost three of their last five and managed just one clean sheet. The fact that they are engaged in both the league and Europa League places them at a disadvantage in the top four race. At home in the league, West Ham United are unbeaten in the last four matches, winning three and they’ve scored in each of their last 16 home matches in the league.

Everton crashed out of the FA Cup with a heavy defeat in their last game ahead of the international break. They were handed a 4-0 beating by Crystal Palace and will need better planning for this game, especially in defence, having conceded 10 goals in just the last four matches. They’ve failed to score in three of those four matches and going into this game they have eight losses in their last 10 league games. Out of a possible 30 points in the last 10 matches, Everton have collected just six points, in wins over Newcastle United and Leeds United. They will be glad to have just the league to focus on now and sitting just three points above the relegation zone, the target is three points and a rise from there. They won’t be able to rise after this game, if they win, but it will be a step closer to survival. Frank Lampard’s team has however gone winless in the last 11 away league matches, losing nine, and failing to score in five of the 11 matches.
