The battle for top four slots will rise a notch higher this weekend when West Ham United plays host to Chelsea in the Premier League. Only goal difference separates the two sides; both have 55 points, Chelsea in fourth and West Ham United are in fifth place. West Ham United are coming from a 3-2 loss to Newcastle United. Prior to that, they had back to back wins and go here having scored at least two goals in each of the last four matches, a total of 12 goals. Their defending is however still short, having failed to keep a clean sheet in the last five matches. They’ve conceded 11 goals in the five matches though failed to score in just one of them. It will be tougher for them defensively, with Declan Rice still out injured and Craig Dawson suspended. They have no loss in the last five home league matches, winning four and scoring two or more in the last five league matches at home.

Chelsea were lucky to get a point in the 0-0 draw with Brighton, who missed two late glorious chances. Against West Ham, it will be a step up in difficulty, and stakes are even higher, being a London derby. Chelsea have managed two wins in the last five league matches and after a recent slump at home, they’ll be fine with playing away. In league action, the Blues are unbeaten in their last six away matches, winning four of them. Heading to this game, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be hoping all his players get through well, as the team is chasing two titles, apart from a top four finish. The team is in the FA Cup final and Champions League semis and Tuchel is already sweating over Mateo Kovacic’s injury and hopes no new injury is reported.
