It hasn’t all gone well for West Ham United in their recent matches and they are going into some of the defining moments of their season in the Premier League. In their next league game, the Hammers will be at home to take on Aston Villa. Placed sixth with 45 points, West Ham will be targeting three points against ninth placed Villa, who have 36 points. Three points here will boost their top four ambitions, but their Europa League loss in midweek pushes David Moyes' side into a tight corner as he makes plans for the Villa game. West Ham United are coming from three straight losses and the most recent in the league, 1-0 against Liverpool left a huge dent on their top four chances. That would be followed by a 1-0 loss away to Sevilla in the Europa League, which marked the second time in eight matches that West Ham failed to score. They have just three clean sheets in the last 10 league matches but scored more than a goal in half of their last 10 league matches, with four of their last five producing under 2.5 goals. In matches against Aston Villa, West Ham United have been dominant, winning four and losing none in the last seven meetings.

Aston Villa will go into this game reenergized after a 3-0 win over Leeds United. They do not have any new injury concerns and after three straight wins, they will be confident going into this game. Villa have scored two or more goals in their last three three matches and have also kept clean sheets in each of these three matches. In their last five away league matches, Aston Villa have managed three wins. There’s a new sense of belief at Villa after impressive activity in the January transfer window and Philippe Coutinho has slotted in very well. He was on the mark again in the 3-0 win over Leeds United and with Villa scoring nine times in just the last three games, there will be a sense of belief they can break West Ham’s dominance. Their away form is however not so encouraging, with five losses in the last 10 games on the road.
