West Ham's hopes of Champions League football next season via their league position are steadily fading. They begin the weekend in seventh place in the Premier League and host fourth placed Arsenal. A win would take them to within five points of the Gunners but they have played a game more. The Hammers still have the chance of winning the Europa League though but lost the home first leg against Frankfurt 2-1. It will be interesting to see what line-up is played against Arsenal. Do they concentrate their efforts on the second leg in Germany or go all out to get three points against Arsenal? The worst case scenario is that eighth placed Wolves (three points behind with a game in hand) overtake them and they miss out on European football altogether. West Ham have won nine home league games this season with only four losses. It's their away form that is scuppering their hopes of a top four finish with the last four all lost.  At home though they are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games with three of the last four being won. Four of the last five home fixtures have seen both teams get on the scoresheet.

Arsenal begin this weekend in fourth place but could be fifth by the time this game begins. That will be the case if Tottenham beat Leicester at home earlier on Sunday. That would leave Tottenham a point ahead of the Gunners but with this game in hand. A win at West Ham would be the 20th won by Arsenal in this season's Premier League but 11 have been lost. They tend to blow hot and cold and have been beaten seven times in away Premier League games this season. Eight have been won though with just one away league draw all season. Six of the last eight away league matches have been won and only in two of the last ten have they failed to score. A bet on both teams scoring looks the one to make here.
