After a terrible start to the season Sunderland have a new manager and a pretty good one too. Sam Allardyce is the new boss and he has a reputation of turning things round at clubs and doesn't know the meaning of the word relegation. He'll have to do a good job at the Stadium of Light though or he may have to add that dreaded word to his vocabulary. January is definitely going to be a busy month at this club if they're still in trouble then. Sunderland have been conceding goals left,right and centre this season and sorting out a defence is one of Allardyce's strong points. His new side did show some improvement in their 2-2 draw at home to West Ham,a game they led 2-0 in the first half. Sunderland have already got a draw at Villa this season so away form isn't totally a write-off. While Sunderland are one from bottom, WBA are only two places above them but five points clear. A win for Albion would certainly put plenty of distance between the two sides but they just aren't firing on all cylinders at present. They haven't won at home this season and lost their last home match 3-2 to Everton after leading 2-0. They looked toothless at Palace and have failed to score in a game six times in league and cup games this season.  Hopefully Sunderland will be boosted by their new boss and I see them leaving the Hawthorns with at least a point.
