West Brom vs Sunderland Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

West Bromwich Albion face Sunderland in the Championship on Saturday (3pm Kick Off) with fans at the Hawthorns knowing that their place in the playoff is all but assured after their midweek 2-0 win over bottom club Rotherham. The win was the 14th at home this season and they have lost just three times, drawing four at the Hawthorns this season. 5th in the table as things stand, from 42 games, the Baggies have a four point gap to Norwich, but more importantly a 9-point lead over Coventry and Preston in 7th and 8th, who both have a game in hand, but who are unlikely to win enough of those games to drag West Brom out of the playoff places. WBA have lost just one of their last 14 games and are undefeated in 9, which is very strong form heading into the most crucial phase of the season.

Sunderland's awful form since Valentine's Day has seen them lose seven of their 11 games since, winning just one and drawing three, all by a 0-0 scoreline. That includes their last two games at home to Bristol City last weekend and away to Leeds United in midweek. The Black Cats were in contention for the playoffs at one point but have dropped down the table into 13th place and now look unlikely to secure a top half finish. They have scored just 7 goals in their last 11 games, conceding 16 in that run, although three of their last five games have finished goalless and both teams scored in just one of those games (a 5-1 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers).
