West Brom vs QPR Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Steve Ashfield | in Championship Predictions
It's going to be a nervous time for West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday evening. They are in second place and know a home win over QPR who are 14th, will see them promoted to the Premier League. Friday saw them go to Huddersfield Town and be beaten 2-1, making it three league games without a win. At that stage it was Brentford who now had their fate in their own hands with two games to go. That didn't last long though as they lost 1-0 at Stoke City to remain a point behind West Brom. They play bottom-of-the-table Barnsley on the final day, so will be expecting three points from that game to put the utmost pressure on West Brom. It's a bit more complicated though as fourth-placed Fulham are only two points behind West Brom and a win at Wigan could see them grab second if Albion and Brentford slip-up.
All possibly complex but it won't be if West Brom can go out and win this game against QPR. Before Friday's loss, they were held to draws by Blackburn Rovers and Fulham. They know that promotion should already have been secured and 16 league draws (only Millwall have had more) could prove very costly if they do miss out on automatic promotion. Albion's home record is pretty decent at present with no defeats in their last four at the Hawthorns. Two have been won and two drawn but only Hull City were able to score against them. Keeping a clean sheet against QPR and scoring, even it's a back-heeled own goal in the 95th minute will take them to the promised land.
QPR have had another inconsistent season and are 14th with no promotion hopes but thankfully relegation fears are absent too. They beat Millwall 4-3 at home on Saturday, that ended a run of just one point from the previous three games. QPR have won seven away league games this season but lost 11. Only 23 away league goals have been scored by them this season. Just six teams have scored less on the road in the Championship this season, most of those currently battling relegation. This is the one time West Brom will wish they had fans in the stadium to give them encouragement. They could have had much harder opponents though and can get that vital win to take them back into the Premier League.

Our West Brom vs QPR Prediction
Just one more effort is needed for West Bromwich Albion. They should have clinched promotion already but two draws and a loss in their last three games have seen them stagger rather than march towards the Premier League. A home game against a QPR side with little to play for is an ideal final fixture. Their home record is good and QPR aren't always at their best away from home with only 23 goals scored. It might not look pretty but Albion can get the vital win.
