West Brom vs Coventry City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

West Brom host Coventry City in the Championship on Friday night with both teams harbouring hopes of a place in the playoffs at the end of the season. While promotion, for either team, is still possible, it is an unrealistic goal given how far behind the top four in the division they are. The Baggies boast a formidable home record under Carlos Corberan this season, winning 11, drawing 3 and losing just 3 of their 17 home games in the Championship.  That said, they were beaten 2-0 at home in their last game at The Hawthorns by Southampton, a result which ended a run of five consecutive wins at home in the Championship. The Baggies don't score too many goals, but defensively they are very solid with only Leeds and Leicester boasting better defensive records. They will need to be strong facing a midlands rival who put five past Non-League Maidstone in the FA Cup 5th Round on Monday night. 

Mark Robins saw striker Ellis Simms score a first-half hat-trick against Maidstone, with Fabio Tavares adding two late goals to give the final score something of a flourish. They needed that win as their usually excellent home form took a dent last weekend in the league when Preston defeated them 3-0 at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Only their second league defeat of the season. Their first came against their opponents today, which will certainly give the Sky Blues pause for thought here. On the plus side, Coventry have lost just one of their last five on the road, a 2-1 defeat at Norwich where they played the majority of the game with 10-men. This should be a Friday night cracker between two promotion-chasing teams and it is a tough call to say who will win.
