West Brom vs Birmingham Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Two sides on opposite ends of the Championship standings are set to meet as West Bromwich Albion plays host to Birmingham City. Visitors Birmingham are two places above the relegation zone, but hope to stall fifth placed West Brom’s ambitions here. The hosts haven't been in great form in their recent matches, coming here with two straight losses. In their most recent outing, they fell 2-0 at home to Wolves in the FA Cup. Goals by Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha either side of half time sunk the Baggies and they’ll look to do better here. That was their second straight loss without scoring, and third of the five matches, which should be a concern. Their two wins in the last four matches have however been considerably comfortable. They beat Aldershot Town and Blackburn Rovers by identical 4-1 score lines. With seven wins in 10 home matches, West Brom will be confident of edging Birmingham. In the Championship, at home, they are unbeaten in four matches, winning each of the last three games. Having lost four straight games against Birmingham will however pose a few worries for West Brom.

Birmingham City are coming into this game looking to recover from their 3-0 loss to Leicester City in the FA Cup. After a solid performance in the opening half of that game, Birmingham City crumbled in the second, conceding all three goals then. Tony Mowbray will call for a better performance here, especially in defence, as they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in six games. In their last 10 matches, Birmingham City have just a win, and a clean sheet. Save for their last game, both sides managed to score in the earlier four matches involving Birmingham. Before losing to Leicester City, Birmingham had registered two straight wins, and four matches unbeaten. Now they have to start it all again, despite being on a poor away run. The visitors have two away wins only in the last 14 games on the road. Their matches have also had a flurry of goals, some, like the most recent, ending in heavy defeats. Eight of Birmingham City’s last 10 matches have had over 2.5 goals.
