Watford picked up well in their last Premier League game, beating Everton 5-2, and now they return home to take on Southampton. Two points separate the two sides, Southampton have eight points in 16th place and Watford, placed 14th, have 10 points. Among the teams in the top 18 of the league, no side has conceded more goals than Watford (17). Joshua King scored a hat trick in the last game and new manager Claudio Ranieri will hope he can help the team rise. They are coming from a run of six losses in 10, and just one win in the last five matches. The last time Watford played at home they were thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool and are now winless in the last four home matches, losing three.

Southampton have managed just one win in the league so far this season. Ahead of this game they gave a good fight to draw Chelsea 1-1 in the League Cup, but lost on post match penalties. The loss may be a blessing for Southampton, as they now have to fully focus on their league campaign. An area they’ll need to address is the defence, having just one clean sheet in six matches. Three of their last five matches have realized over 2.5 goals and they’ve conceded two or more goals in three of the last five away matches. Both teams have scored in four of their last five away games and they are winless in nine straight away league matches. Against Watford though, Newcastle are unbeaten in six matches, with both sides scoring in five.
