Walsall vs Leicester Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in FA Cup Predictions
League Two Walsall bid to cause a shock in the FA Cup fourth round. They host Premier League Leicester City in this midlands derby. The home side are 11th in League Two but only four points behind the final promotion play-off position with two games in hand. Only one of their last 13 games in all competitions has been lost but this is a big step up in class for them. The League Two side are in the fourth round (last 32) for the first time since 2016. They haven't reached round five since 2003 when they were two divisions higher than they currently are. Home form has seen Walsall five of their last six games but this is their first since New Year's Day. To get to this fourth round, The Saddlers have beaten Wycombe Wanders, Carlisle United and Stockport County. The win over Carlisle ended a run of five home FA Cup games without a win.
Leicester City won the FA Cup two seasons ago. They are 14th in the Premier League which sounds comfortable but it's not. Leicester are only a point above the relegation zone and without a win in their last three matches. Last weekend saw them nearly beat Brighton and Hove Albion at home but the visitors got a late equalizer to grab a draw. Their only win in their last seven matches was an away win at League Two Gillingham in the FA Cup third round. Eight of their last nine FA Cup ties have ended in victory, the only loss being at Nottingham Forest last season. That was also their only away FA Cup defeat since 2019. Back City to get the win in this match.
