Wales vs Armenia Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Joseph King | in Euro Predictions
Second-place Wales will look to extend their unbeaten start to the 2024 European Championship qualification campaign when they host fourth-place Armenia on Friday. It’s been an encouraging start for Rob Page’s men. Wales followed up an away draw with Croatia in the opener with a home victory over Latvia in the second round of fixtures. This sees them tied for first-place with four points and leading third-place Turkey by one point. Armenia come into this fixture having lost their opening match at home to Turkey and will be playing their second qualifying match here. The Armenians have never qualified for a European Championship or World Cup since their independence in 1992. They’ll need to see a dramatic improvement in their results if they are to change that in what will prove to be a challenging group for them.

Wales - Armenia: Form Analysis
Wales earned a much-needed 1-0 win over Latvia in their most recent fixture. The victory snapped a nine match winless run for the Dragons following disappointing showings in the 2022 World Cup and the 2022/23 Nations League. Wales finished bottom of their respective groups in both of those tournaments. However, the players and fans will feel good about their chances of qualifying for a third consecutive European Championship after a positive start. The Welsh stole a point with a 93rd minute goal in a tough fixture against seventh-ranked Croatia in their opening match. Having earned a result from their most difficult fixture of the qualifying campaign, Wales are in a strong position going forward. They haven’t experienced too much attacking fortune though, failing to score more than a single goal in their last seven straight.
Armenia are dealing with a lengthy winless run of their own. A 2-2 away draw with Cyprus in their most recent outing means the Havakakan have now gone nine matches without a victory. They opened their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Turkey despite taking the lead after just 10 minutes. Armenia’s only two points during their current winless run have come against 107th-ranked Kosovo and 111th-ranked Cyprus. A major contributor to the Armenians' struggles has been their vulnerability on the defensive side of the ball. The visitors have now conceded two or more goals in each of their last nine games. They also have a terrible record against top 50 ranked teams, winning only once in their last 13 attempts and being outscored by a total of 43-8 during those fixtures.Limited Offer. Wales & Armenia Squad Analysis
Wales manager Rob Page isn’t expected to make too many changes from the team that won 1-0 against Latvia in March. Kieffer Moore, who scored the winner in the aforementioned victory, will lead the line for the Welsh. Supporting him will be captain Aaron Ramsey and Harry Wilson, taking up the attacking midfielder roles in the expected 3-4-2-1 formation. Daniel James will likely occupy one of the wingback positions meaning Neco Williams could move back to one of the wide center back roles.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Armenia’s top goalscorer, has announced his retirement from international football and will be a huge miss. However, Lucas Zelarayán has been in fine form for MLS side the Columbus Crew with eight goals and six assists in 15 appearances. The 30-year-old will be the one to watch in Oleksandr Petrakov’s side. Boca Juniors’ Norberto Briasco will likely get the nod at striker again after starting the team’s first Euro qualifying game against Turkey.

Our Wales vs Armenia Prediction
Wales have a golden opportunity to put some space between themselves and third-place Turkey who they will meet three days later. The hosts have a fairly good record at home in recent outings with only two losses in their last 10 which includes some difficult opposition. Armenia have really struggled to get results lately which has been even more pronounced away from home. Wales should take the three points here but their lack of goal scoring output over the recent months means this should be a relatively low-scoring affair. Our Wales vs Armenia prediction is for Wales to win and there to be under 4.5 goals scored.
