Two sides with European Competition qualification hopes will clash this week when Sporting Lisbon travel to sixth placed Vitoria Guimaraes in the Primeira Liga on Monday evening. The visitors are currently in fourth place, still in the hunt for a Champions League qualification spot but, ten points behind Braga in second, though they still have a game in hand on them. Sporting drew their last league match 1-1 at home to Arouca, which extended their unbeaten league run to eight matches,with six wins and two draws. Their away record has been slightly less impressive, with seven wins, three draws, and four losses in 14 matches on the road, though they are on a six-match away unbeaten streak with four wins an two draws). Sporting came out as 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture and will expect nothing less than another three points in this one. 

Meanwhile, Vitoria Guimaraes, are still in with a real chance of cracking the top five, currently in sixth place  four points behind Arouca in fifth. The hosts, along with Vizela, will need to make a big push moving into the final stretch of the season if they are to earn a Conference League qualification spot. Vitoria Guimaraes suffered a 2-1 loss in their last match against Famalicao, which extended their poor record of late to five matches without a win, four of which ended in losses. Their home form has been better, though, with a record of eight wins, three draws, and three losses in 14 matches; however, they did fail to win either of their last two. The hosts have seen their form dip at the worst possible time and will hope that their opponents are still feeling the effects of their Europa League disappointment on Thursday which could give them a chance to take something from this match.
