Villarreal vs Getafe Prediction & Betting Tips - LaLiga

Round 23 of the Spanish La Liga will conclude on Monday when Villarreal welcome Getafe at the El Madrigal. Villarreal are in ninth place with 31 points and are chasing a place in Europe for next season while Getafe are hovering just above the relegation zone in 16th place with 22 points. Villareal come into this match on the back of four successive defeats that have seen them fall off the European qualification places. They are not a long way off (three points) from a Conference League spot but they need to start winning if they want to achieve this at the end of the season. Quique Setien’s men lost 4-2 away to Mallorca last time out and have now lost the same number of matches (9) as they have won. They have failed to score twice in this woeful run of defeats and have conceded nine goals with two of their matches seeing over 3.5 goals scored. This year they have won just two matches at home and have lost three, including the last two at the Madrigal in all competitions. Villareal have scored just one goal in their last three home matches and this will have to improve if they are to get something out of Monday’s clash. Gerard Moreno is the club’s top scorer in La Liga with five goals but the forward hasn’t been involved since scoring against Elche three matchdays ago due to injury. Moreno is part of a long list of injuries for the Yellow Submarine with Francis Coquelin, Giovani Lo Celso and Nicolas Jackson all out. Villarreal will also be without Manu Trigueros for this match due to suspension but in the same breath will have Alberto Moreno back from a one-game suspension.

Only goal difference is keeping Getafe from being in the bottom three. The Capital club have struggled to win matches this season and have managed only five. They however did secure a slim 1-0 victory over Valencia last time out to end a seven-match run without a win across all competitions. Quique Sanchez Flores’ men are now on a three-match unbeaten run and will hope to extend this run and peel further away from the relegation zone. They have found it hard to score goals though and have managed just 19. They have been a bit tight at the back with their 28 goals conceded the second least tally by the teams in the bottom half of the table. They have however not been able to keep teams at bay and have conceded in all but one of their eight matches this year. Borja Mayoral scored the winner against Valencia and now has five goals to his name. Mayoral and fellow strike partner Enes Unal remain the danger men for Getafe with 12 goals between them in the league. Sanchez Flores has a full squad from which to pick from and this should aid in them getting a positive result on Monday.
