Viking FK vs Aberdeen Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Europa League Predictions
The second qualifying round of the Europa League is here and Scottish side Aberdeen will be heading to Norway to face Viking this Thursday. The two sides head to the game on the back of good domestic runs and we expect an exciting game. Viking have been scoring for fun in their recent matches and one man who has had a big say in that is Veton Berisha. He has scored eight goals in the last six matches. The team did not start the league on a high but have lately gone on a fine run – unbeaten in their last five, with three straight wins and have scored at least two goals in the last five matches. Though scoring impressively in their recent matches, Viking have not had very good returns in defence; they have one clean sheet in the last seven. It has been a bit shaky at home as well, with three wins and three losses in the last eight games and in four of the last five home games, they have conceded two or more. After winning the Norwegian Cup in 2019, this will be the first time Viking plays in the Europa League since 2008 and they want to have a better run this time.
Aberdeen have been playing in the competition a bit more and will be better experienced at this stage. The Scottish side thrashed NSI from Faroe Islands 6-0 in the previous round of the Europa League and will be looking to ride on the win as they head to Norway. They have so far played six matches this season and their only loss has come against Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. Ahead of this game, Aberdeen have five straight wins and three straight clean sheets. They only failed to score in the loss to Rangers at the start of the season and though they haven’t scored as many goals as Viking, they are potent in attack. Ryan Hedges and Lewis Ferguson have been key men upfront for Aberdeen, scoring seven times in the team’s last five matches and will be relied upon here. The team has won both their away matches played this season but in the Europa League they have just three away wins in 10. With just two clean sheets in their last 10 away matches in Europa League, Aberdeen will hope to replicate their domestic defensive performance as they go to Norway.

Our Viking FK vs Aberdeen Prediction
Viking are returning to the Europa League for the first time in 12 years and will be hoping to do well, though one area they will struggle is in defence. They face a side that has regularly participated in the competition, though without advancing to the latter stages, and playing at home, they’ll feel they can match the Scots. In attack, Viking have proved their mettle, with Veton Berisha a key man and we can bet on him scoring here. However, Aberdeen will not be an easy side to take on; they have started their season well and have also been scoring consistently. Ryan Hedges and Lewis Ferguson have been in good form in attack lately and looking at Viking’s defensive returns, we can back one or both to score. While Aberdeen have also done well defensively, we can’t bet that they’ll completely shut out Viking. A scoring draw at 90 minutes seems very likely here.
