Venezuela welcomes Colombia to the Estadio Cachamay for this final match in the South American World Cup qualifiers. The hosts are bottom of the table and will be hoping to end their poor campaign with a victory. The visitors are in sixth place with 20 points just one point behind fifth placed Peru. Venezuela have only pride to play for but they will decide which team finishes fifth on the table. They have only won three of their 17 matches and will look to avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of Colombia in the reverse fixture. Venezuela has the worst defensive record in the league with 33 goals conceded at an average of just under 2 goals per match. They have not been match better in the goals scored as they have only scored 14 goals which is the second lowest on the table.

Colombia have everything riding on this final match as they need a win to advance to the playoffs but their destiny is out of their hands. They are hoping to finish in fifth place to enter the playoff round of the qualifiers but in order for them to advance they need fifth place Peru to lose or draw their match. If Peru draw or lose and Columbia wins then they will claim the fifth spot. A Peru loss and a Colombia draw will see both teams finish on 21 points but Colombia will go through due to the better goals difference. Colombia had an excellent 3-0 in their last match but could be a case of too little too late. They will be ruing their poor scoring record as they incredibly went seven matches without scoring earlier in the campaign.
