Real Valladolid will be looking to return to winning ways in La Liga when they take on Rayo Vallecano at Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla on Saturday evening. Pucela are currently second-bottom in the league standings, while Los Franjirrojos are ninth after the first eight games of the season. 

It almost feels like a lifetime ago that Real Valladolid kicked off the 2024-25 season with a 1-0 victory over Espanyol. Since then, they have failed to win any of their next seven games leading up to this one. 

During that time, Pucela managed only two draws and suffered five losses, with the most recent defeat coming last week when they fell 2-1 to Mallorca at home. 

Notably, though, all five points that Valladolid have earned this season have come on their home patch, and until last week's defeat, the hosts had kept clean sheets in their first three games at this venue. 

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano have made a mixed start to the season, picking up 10 points from their first eight games, with a record of two wins, four draws and two defeats so far. 

Last weekend, Los Franjirrojos played out a 1-1 draw at home to Leganes, marking their third stalemate in a row and fourth match unbeaten since returning from the international break last month. 

It has been a similarly mixed bag of results on the road for the visitors, with five points earned in four outings, including a win, two draws and a loss. However, that victory is the only one they’ve managed in their last 13 away league games (W1 D5 L7).
