Espanyol have enjoyed a fine run since falling 0 – 1 to real Madrid, and they are currently unbeaten in four matches, winning three and drawing one, but they meet a Real Valladolid side in equally good form, having gone five unbeaten after ending their poor start to the season. Real Valladolid went on a four match winless run in the opening matches of the season, picking just two points in the process but they have turned the page lately and have picked a total of 13 points out of a possible 15 from the previous five matches. All the four teams Real Valladolid have beaten in the last four matches are below them in the standings and now the hosts will feel ready to sink a side above them after registering good momentum with three straight clean sheets and having scored consistently in the last five matches. Real Valladolid were not the strongest in attack at the start of the season, going four games without scoring. However, their goals seem to be drying up; after scoring thrice against Celta Vigo, they managed two against Levante and since then it has been a goal a game for the next three matches, but while the goals have reduced, they have definitely worked on the defence and the team has not conceded in the three games they have scored once each. Espanyol on their part, have scored at least twice in each of their last three matches and will definitely pose a real threat to Real Valladolid and with two clean sheets in the last four matches, they can stake a claim too for a good defence. Espanyol have managed five points out of a possible 15 away this season in La Liga but they have improved in the last two matches, with a draw and a win with a clean sheet, and playing this newly promoted side should give them hope of building on. Real Valladolid didn’t start too well at home, with two straight losses but have recovered to register two straight wins recently and will hope to extend that when they face a higher ranked opponent.
