Real Valladolid will seek to boost their survival hopes when they host Barcelona on Tuesday in La Liga. With three matches left, Valladolid sit 18th in the standings while Barcelona have already been crowned champions. Heading into this game, Valladolid find themselves in the bottom three due to an inferior goal difference. Paulo Pezzolano’s charges are tied on 35 points with 17th-placed Getafe and are two points adrift of Valencia in 16th. This is before the conclusion of matchday 35 and they could as well find themselves trailing Valencia by five by the time they host Barcelona. The Pucela can therefore not afford to drop more points. Keeping clean sheets is the first step towards this. However, Valladolid are one of four teams to have conceded 60 or more goals. Whenever they have managed a shutout, they have more often ended up with a win. They have managed 17 points from five wins and two draws with a clean sheet. All but one of those matches had them as hosts. They come to this match having lost their last five matches and lost 2-0 away to Cadiz last time out.

A 4-2 win away to Catalunya rivals Espanyol secured Barcelona’s 27th league crown with four matches left to play. Barcelona have been dominant and so far have 27 wins which is five more than second-placed Real Madrid who are yet to play in round 35. They have also lost the least number of matches, at four. Their fourth defeat however came last time out on their coronation night as they lost 2-1 to Real Sociedad. That loss was their first at home this season and ended a three-match winning run that had seen them score nine and concede just two. Barcelona have been synonymous with clean sheets this season but have conceded in each of their last two matches. This coupled with defeat in their last match, could give Valladolid hope of halting their current woeful run.
