Valencia will go into their home game against Espanyol in a much stable condition and hope to wrap up 2021 on a high. Placed eighth, Valencia go to this game on 28 points while Espanyol are three places below, with 23 points. Valencia will be favorites to win this, having gone unbeaten in their last nine matches. They are coming from a 4-3 win over Levante and as seen from the game, their biggest concern should be in defence. They have no clean sheet in the last four matches but in the last five they have scored two or more goals in each. A total of 14 goals in five matches is definitely a return that should build confidence. Each of these five matches have also produced over 2.5 goals.

Espanyol are also looking to wrap up 2021 on a high, though they don’t have a run as dominant as Valencia’s. They are coming from a 3-1 loss at Celta Vigo, their second loss in three games and fifth straight outing without a clean sheet. Espanyol haven’t disappointed in attack though; they have failed to score in just one of their last five matches, a 1-0 loss to Rayo Vallecano. In three of their last five matches they’ve scored two or more goals while four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals. This is not a fixture Espanyol have done so well in over the past few years; they haven’t won any of the last three and in the last nine meetings they have just one win and seven losses.
