Off-field issues continue to stifle Barcelona, but they travel to Valencia with high hopes of starting the new 2024/25 La Liga season off on the right foot. This matchday one fixture at the Mestalla Stadium will be played on Saturday, and our production is a game full of goals.
Valencia surprised quite a few analysts with the way their season went by last year. That was largely due to the influence that club legend Ruben Baraja has brought to the club. He would be keen to lead another impressive season, although starting against Barcelona remains a challenge.
Barcelona are yet to register summer signing Dani Olmo as they struggle with ongoing financial difficulties. There are four more players awaiting registration, which takes some of the sheen off their preparations.

Valencia - Barcelona: Form Analysis
Valencia ended their last friendly with a 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. That remains their only win across their last six matches, drawing two and losing four.
They finished ninth in the table last season with 49 points, which was a commendable effort. As they look to recreate the positive effects of that season, Valencia knows that it won’t be straight-forward to start well against Barcelona, against whom they have struggled.
Valencia won just one of their last 16 games against Barcelona.
That record could spur on Barcelona, who are coming here on the back of consecutive defeats. They were beaten by AC Milan and Monaco in their last two friendlies, although that was preceded by a sequence of back-to-back wins.
Last season, the Catalans finished second with 85 points, but a whopping ten away from arch rivals and winners Real Madrid.
Away results will likely play a crucial role in determining the 2024/25 league winners. Barcelona were strong on their travels in the prior campaign, averaging 2.05 points won per away trip. However, this was second to Real Madrid, who earned five more away points than the Blaugrana.

Valencia’s injury problems are well documented, with at least four players unavailable for the start of this season’s campaign. Fran Perez, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jaume Domenech, and Jose Gaya are still unavailable for the home team.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to leave Valencia.
The Georgian ‘keeper looks to be on his way out of the club, with Liverpool likely to be his destination. Barcelona have a few problems of their own, highlighted by their inability to register players.
Dani Olmo is yet to be registered by Barcelona as they continue to grapple with off-field financial issues. He is unlikely to be available for the start of the season.
Injuries continue to be a problem for the Catalans, who are set to miss Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati, and Gavi due to injuries. Pedri and Frenkie de Jong remain major doubts for the visitors as the duo is still recuperating from injuries. Lamine Yamal has just returned to full training after his exploits in the Euros, and it could be interesting to see if he’s involved with the team.
