Valencia host Atletico Madrid at the Mestella in La Liga. The hosts are placed tenth in the league standings with sixteen points from twelve games while the visitors see themselves at fourth in the table with twenty-two points in eleven games so far. Valencia come into the game with a dominating 2-0 win over Villarreal at home. The victory over Villarreal was Jose Bordalas’ first win in eight games. The lack of wins for Valencia can be chiefly attributed to their lack of stability in defence. They have not managed clean sheets in seven out of their last nine matches and have had over 2.5 goals in seven out of their last ten matches as well.

Atletico Madrid were dealt a blow in their Champions League campaign as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield. However, Diego Simeone’s men will not be worried too much since they are still in contention for qualification to the next round of the continental competition. As far as La Liga are concerned, they are on a four-game unbeaten run and beat Real Betis 3-0 in their last league game. Despite the positive results, Atletico Madrid also have some concerns in defence to deal with.
