World champions USA haven’t really sparkled at the 2020 Olympic Games and they will be hoping to turn on the style when they face Canada in the semi finals at Tokyo 2020. USA saw off one of the tournament favorites, the Netherlands, 4-2 on post match penalties after the two giants played to a 2-2 draw after extra time. For USA and their profile, they’ve just scraped through to this stage, with their only outright win in four being against New Zealand, undoubtedly the weakest team at this competition. USA suffered a 3-0 loss to Sweden in their opening game of the competition, that being one of the two matches they’ve failed to score in here. They have managed just one clean sheet in their four matches with the bulk of their goals coming in the 6-1 win over New Zealand. In total, they’ve scored eight goals here and conceded six.

Canada also needed post match penalties to advance. They put in a great effort to hold Brazil 0-0 in normal time then dispatched them 4-3 on penalties. The goalless draw handed Canada their first clean sheet at this competition. They haven’t been great in attack, and neither have they been porous in defence – they’ve conceded three goals and scored four across their four matches so far. Only once in the four matches have they managed to score more than a goal – the 2-1 win over Chile, and that remains their only game to see over 2.5 goals scored. Both sides have scored in three of their four matches but Canada haven’t conceded more than a goal.
