Hosts USA take on Ecuador as the quarter finals of the Copa American tournament begin. It's been an interesting Copa America so far for the USA. Defeat in their opening game thanks to two first half Colombia goals. Then they got an easy 4-0 win over Costa Rica. That took it down to the final game against Paraguay and they somehow got a 1-0 win. USA were reduced to ten men early in the second half, only had 35% possession in the match and saw Paraguay create 18 goal attempts. With Colombia surprisingly losing to Costa Rica that gave USA the group and this game against Ecuador. Their opponents finished second in Group B ahead of Brazil who they drew 0-0 with in their opening match of the tournament. That was followed by a great comeback against Peru as they rallied from two goals down inside 13 minutes to get a draw. Qualification was confirmed when they beat the outclassed Haiti side 4-0 and then celebrated after hearing that Brazil had lost to Peru. USA do have some momentum going into this match and I reckon they can get a hard fought win here to set up a likely semi-final against mighty Argentina.
