Russia have confounded their critics with two good wins over Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Their opponents in their final Group A fixture can say the same but Russia have so far scored eight goals and Uruguay just the two. With both sides on six points, they have already booked their places in the knock-out stages of this World Cup tournament where it's almost inevitable they will face either Spain or Portugal from Group B. Russia have the better goal difference and know just a draw will win them the group but are also well aware that their games are going to start getting a lot harder. They haven't won three consecutive games since 2015 and they take on a Uruguay side who are yet to concede in Russia.

Whereas Russia have been scoring plenty of goals in their wins over Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Uruguay have had two 1-0 victories to secure their place in the knock-out stages. Their opponents actually had more possession in Wednesday's game but Uruguay managed to create 13 goal attempts though only three were on target, a percentage that has to get better as the tournament progresses. It was alright at the other end though with their second straight clean sheet and that makes it five in a row. That's a key reason for going for under 2.5 goals to be scored in this match.
