Bundesliga’s early pacesetters Union Berlin will be at home to welcome contenders RB Leipzig in their next league match. After two wins in two, Union are top of the standings while Leipzig, with three points, are eighth. This will be the final match of Round 3, and Union Berlin might have been displaced by then. Still, they will target extending their fine start to the season. In each of their three matches, in all competitions, this season, Union have scored four goals. They’ve however struggled to keep clean sheets. Their only clean sheet was in the German Cup, a 4-0 win over Astoria Walldorf. They beat Mainz and most recently Darmstadt with identical 4-1 margins. As things stand, they’ve won each of their last four competitive matches. Five of their last six competitive matches have had over 2.5 goals. Both teams have scored in three of their last five matches.

Leipzig showed great recovery in Round 2 after their 3-2 loss on Match Day 1, by beating Stuttgart 5-1. They will be keen on building on this Match Day 2 performance; the problem is their defence. In the last two matches they have no clean sheet and have conceded four goals in the process. Leipzig had a rather good start to the season, beating Bayern Munich 3-0 in the Super Cup. However, that happens to be their only clean sheet in three matches. Three times in their last five competitive matches, both teams have scored. In Bundesliga action, both teams have scored in each of Leipzig’s last five matches. All of those matches have also produced over 2.5 goals, with Leipzig scoring two or more in each. In two of their last three league matches, they’ve conceded more than a goal.
