Ukraine vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Joseph King | in Euro Predictions
Second-place Ukraine and group leaders England face off for this 2024 European Championship qualifying Group C clash. England will be looking to further extend their lead atop the pile as they go for their fifth win from the first five games. The Three Lions have built up a six point lead over Ukraine although have played an extra game up to this point. Ukraine will attempt to close the gap on their opponents while also expanding their three point lead on third-place Italy. With only the top two teams qualifying from this group of five, it’s likely that the second spot will be between the Ukrainians and the Italians.

Ukraine - England: Form Analysis
England have stormed out of the gates in this Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a 100% winning record after the first four matches. Not only is the record itself commendable, but the manner in which Gareth Southgate’s men have been winning is particularly impressive. England have scored 15 goals while conceding just once ahead of their second meeting with Ukraine. Everything came together for them in their last outing, a 7-0 romp of North Macedonia at Old Trafford which was marked by a Bukayo Saka hattrick. England’s 15 goals is the highest total of any team in Euro 2024 qualifying with Portugal sitting a goal behind at 14. England has performed exceptionally well at Euro qualifying over recent iterations, finishing top of their group in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
Ukraine will be seeking their fourth consecutive appearance at the European Championships in Germany starting in June of 2024. They’ll face a potentially pivotal three days as they take on high-flying England followed up by a trip to Milan to face reigning European champions Italy. The Blue and Yellow lead the Italians by three points but Italy has a game in hand advantage. Ukraine suffered a 2-0 away defeat to England to open up their qualifying campaign back in March of this year. However, they were able to recover well with back-to-back victories over North Macedonia and Malta. The former of which saw Ukraine battle back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to pick up a huge three points as the away team. They’re now on a run of only one loss in their last seven matches.

Ukraine & England Squad Analysis
Southgate has a few players unavailable for this trip to Poland, most notably Man City’s Jack Grealish and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. These are in addition to the absences of John Stones, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw who will all be unavailable for selection here. England certainly have the depth to cope with the missing players however, as their midfield in particular is looking the best it’s been for years. Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham are the foundation, each experiencing fantastic starts with their respective new clubs. Saka will take up his position on the right wing and will likely be joined by Marcus Rashford on the left. Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane will lead the line as always for the Three Lions.
Ukraine manager Sergiy Rebrov will be without the services of Marseille’s Ruslan Malinovskyi and midfielder Mykola Shaparenko who are both dealing with injuries. They’ll be able to welcome the influential Oleksandr Zinchenko back into the squad, who is likely to take up his preferred midfield role with his national team. Dynamo Kiev’s Andriy Yarmolenko will lead the line for Ukraine and is sitting on 45 international goals in 115 caps.

Our Ukraine vs England Prediction
England are rolling at the moment and are coming off their biggest win since a 10-0 crushing of San Marino back in 2021. This is a truly frightening squad for opposition teams to have to deal with as there is an abundance of talent in the attacking and midfield positions. Ukraine have done well to pick up back-to-back wins and are on a good run of form overall with only one loss in their last seven. However, this is likely too big of an ask for the Ukrainians who don’t have a good recent history against the English. Our Ukraine vs England prediction is for England on the -1 European handicap.
