Udinese will play host to Sassuolo in a crucial bottom-half battle in Serie A on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently 17th in the league standings, while the visitors are two places above them. Udinese have fallen a significant way from the mid-table finish they managed last season. As it stands, they have managed just 12 points in 15 league matches this season and are level with Empoli, who is the first side below the dotted line. The White and Blacks were comprehensively beaten by league leaders Inter Milan 4-0 last week, extending their recent run of results to four matches without a win. Over the course of the season so far, Udinese have recorded just one victory, which came over AC Milan at the start of last month. They have also recorded nine draw results this term, which is the most of any side in the top flight. The hosts have drawn each of their last four home games, but the bookies make them the favourites to win this one. 

Meanwhile, Sassuolo come into this match following back-to-back league defeats. They were beaten by Roma 2-1 at the start of the month and lost to Cagliari by the same scoreline last week. That leaves them on 15 points in as many matches this term, though they are still too close to the relegation zone for comfort, just three points above the drop. To date, Neroverdi have recorded four wins, three draws and eight losses, but they have scored an impressive 22 goals in that time, which is a better return than the likes of Atalanta and Monza in the top half of the table. However, the visitors will be hoping to improve their away record in the second half of the campaign. They have taken just seven points from a possible 21 on the road and have lost two of their last three. While Sassuolo managed to take a point from this fixture last season, they have not beaten Udinese in their last ten attempts (W0 D5 L5).
