Group D in UEFA European Championship Qualifying will see Turkey take on Armenia on Friday evening. Turkey currently lead the group with nine points, while Armenia are in second place with six, though they have played a game less than their opponents. The hosts have already qualified for the playoffs since they finished top of League C Group 1 in the UEFA Nations League. In that competition, Turkey recorded 13 points from their six matches in a group that featured Luxembourg, Faroe Islands, and Lithuania. In fact, up to their win over Wales in June, Armenia were on a nine-match winless run, including seven losses and two draws. However, they are on an upward trajectory, now unbeaten in their last three while scoring two or more goals in each of those matches. The Armenians have never reached the European Championship since their independence in 1992 and have lost their three matches against this opponent since then. Despite holding second place in the group currently, bookmakers make them fourth-favourite to qualify from Group D on pre-match betting markets.
