Turkey vs Portugal Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Ian John in Euro Predictions
Cristiano Ronaldo is back and hungry to add to his record-setting 14 Euro Finals goals as his Portugal team faces Turkey in both teams' second Group F game of Euro 2024.
The superstar looked in good form in Portugal's opener, a 2-1 win over Czechia. His liveliness on the ball and aerial threat presented problems for a well-marshalled Czech defense. His teammates showed their grit too, coming from a goal down with just over 20 minutes remaining to claim an important victory for Roberto Martinez's side.
A win here for Portugal or Turkey would confirm their place in the Round of 16, barring an incredibly unlikely series of results in this group in the three remaining games. That's because Turkey currently top this group due to their 3-1 victory over Georgia in their opening fixture in Group F.
The Turks goals were a mixture of the sublime and ridiculous.
Muldur's 25th-minute volleyball and Guler's 65th-minute curler were both Goal of the Tournament contenders.
Their third goal, somewhat farcical, saw Akturkoglu run the length of the pitch before slotting into an empty Georgia net. That after the Georgian keeper raced upfield late in the game to try and score from a corner.
Yet despite this win, Turkey were not in good form heading into the tournament. A victory over arguably the weakest side of all 24 teams is one thing. Repeating that against a true European powerhouse in Portugal will be quite another.

Turkey - Portugal: Form Analysis
Turkey head coach Vincenzo Montella will be delighted with their opening win against Georgia, a result which gives the Turks a real opportunity to qualify for the knockout phase. Additionally, the quality of their first two strikes in this game was exceptionally high. That's something the Portuguese defense will have noted for certain.
It was a timely win for the Turks as it ended a five-game run without a win, during which they only secured two draws. Realistically, they will likely only need one point from their final two games to ensure a spot in the Round of 16.
Defender Abdulkerim Bardacki and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu both received a yellow card in the opening game. A second in the game with Portugal would rule them out of the final group game against the Czech Republic.
Portugal also have two players on a yellow card from their 2-1 opening win over Czechia. Rafael Leao and goalscoring substitute Francisco Conceicao the players in danger of missing their final group game should they be booked again against Turkey.
Having played 11 games so far (ten in qualifying, one in the Euro 2024 Finals), Portugal has won all eleven matches in the tournament. They will therefore head into this game with Turkey, a team they have a good record against, with a high degree of confidence.
It is clear to see with their form and the depth of quality in their squad, why Portugal are rated as many people's favorites to win this tournament. A win here against Turkey will certainly help them progress towards that goal.

Turkey & Portugal Squad Analysis
Neither Turkey or Portugal have any players suspended or injured for their clash on Saturday.
Both also won their opening fixture of Euro 2024, so it is difficult to see head coaches Vincenzo Montella or Roberto Martinez making too many changes to their teams for this fixture.
Neutral fans will certainly be keen to see 19-year-old Turkish prodigy Arda Guler in action. The youngster is already part of the Real Madrid squad and scored a wonderful curling shot from distance for Turkey's second goal against Georgia.
Montella will likely stick with his 4-2-3-1 formation, with Baris Yilmaz continuing as the lone striker ahead of Cenk Tosun and Bertug Yildirim.
Roberto Martinez adopted a 3-4-3 formation against Czechia with Diego Dalot and Joao Cancelo as attacking wingbacks. Veteran Pepe anchored the defense, with Cristiano Ronaldo the focal point in the attack.
If Portugal win this game and qualifies for the knockout phase, then expect to see some of the hugely talented players on their bench, such as Joao Felix, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Goncalo Inacio and Joao Palhinha, given a chance in their final group game.

Our Turkey vs Portugal Prediction
Our prediction for the Turkey vs Portugal Euro 2024 fixture is for Portugal to win.
Both teams started their Euro 2024 journeys with a very good win, but the data strongly suggests that Portugal should pick up three more points in this game against Turkey.
Aside from their 3-1 win over Georgia in their opener, a game in which they rode their luck at times, Turkey's build-up to the finals has been poor with several recent losses, including a 6-1 reverse to Austria back in March .
Portugal showed real resilience to come back from a goal down to beat the Czechs 2-1 and their generally excellent form, and outstanding record against Turkey, especially in the Euros, is hard to ignore.
As such, our prediction is that Portugal will win and, with it, qualify for the knockout phase.
Turkey vs Portugal - Other Interesting Predictions
Over 2.5 Goals
Both Portugal and Turkey have been involved in plenty of games of late which have seen at least three goals scored.
Five of Turkey's last eight matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored, including their Euro 2024 opener against Georgia.
For Portugal, it is five of their last six matches that have seen three or more goals scored, including all their last four games.
Add to that the firepower on show for a very strong Portugal side against a team that they have a track record of scoring goals against and it is easy to see why our secondary prediction is for Over 2.5 Goals to be scored in the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) to score at any time.
The 39-year-old Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was bright against Czechia in the opening game for his country, but he didn't get off the mark at the 2024 Euros in that opening game.
Few would bet against the man who has scored more Euro Finals tournament goals than any other player (14) breaking his duck at this tournament against a Turkey side that have been conceding plenty of goals of late.
With a staggering (and world record) 130 goals for his country, we're pretty confident we'll be seeing the " Siuuu!" celebration once again against Turkey.
Our final prediction for the Turkey v Portugal game therefore is for Cristiano Ronaldo to score at any time.
