Turkey had a flying start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers but the steam seems to be running out, especially after that 6-1 rout by the Netherlands in their last game. They have one win in five and will be keen to resuscitate their campaign when they play host to Norway. Turkey have dropped to third in the Group G standings, with 11 points, two below second placed Norway. In the last five matches, Turkey have suffered three losses and have just one clean sheet. In four of the last five matches, they have conceded two or more goals and each of the last four matches has produced over 2.5 goals. Each of the last eight matches in World Cup qualification has produced over 2.5 goals as well, and in their last four World Cup qualification matches at home, they’ve also conceded two or more goals. Turkey have struggled defensively in their recent matches; in the last two home games, they led 2-0 but dropped points in the end, drawing 2-2 and 3-3. They did thump Norway 3-0 in the first meeting in this group but a repeat seems very unlikely.

Norway have three wins in their last five going to this game and will be out to avenge the first leg defeat at home. Both teams are targeting top spot after this round and as things stand, Norway are better placed. The visitors will however be without their main striker Erling Haaland, who is injured. His absence will be a big miss, having scored six goals in Norway’s last five matches. In their last game, Norway trounced Gibraltar 5-1 and they come here unbeaten in the last four matches, with three straight wins. They are also unbeaten in their last four World Cup qualification matches, and they scored two or more in three of the last four away. In the last four meetings with Turkey, Norway are winless and the last three have produced over 2.5 goals.
