As the battle for top-six heats up, Torino will be bracing up for a win against basement club Salernitana. This Serie A matchday 23 will be played at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday. Ahead of this weekend fixtures, the hosts are 10th with 31 points from 21 matches while the visitors are bottom with 12 points from 22 games. Torino start this round only three points behind sixth-placed Fiorentina and can sense a chance to stay in the hunt for a European spot. They defeated Cagliari 2-1 in their last match but overall form has been inconsistent. Torino have won only four of their last ten league games, drawing four and losing two. It is much better at home where they have been an immovable force. Torino won four of their last five home league games, drawing the other, and should fancy their chances here.

Salernitana are still six points behind safety zone and need instant improvements to revive their campaign. A 2-1 defeat to Roma in the last round didn’t help the mood although they did take lead in that fixture. It was their fifth loss in a row in all competitions and an eight across ten matches with only one win during that sequence. It is pretty much the same in the league too, where Salernitana have lost seven of their last nine matches including four in a row. Their only win in that sequence came away from home, but otherwise they have been poor travellers with seven defeats from their last nine away Serie A matches.
