Tunisia - Namibia: Form Analysis
Tunisia are back at the continental stage and their 21st appearance is also their 16th successive one. The Carthage Eagles triumphed in 2004 on home soil to win their first and only AFCON crown. Since then they have only made the semifinals once and this was in the 2019 edition as they finished fourth. As one of the favourites to win it all here, the North Africans will hope for at the very least a last-four finish. In the last edition in 2022, they exited in the quarterfinals. Jalel Kadri’s men, who finished top of their qualifying group, are coming into this opener having not lost in four outings. They have won three times with the most recent victory coming last time out in a build-up match with Cape Verde. Tunisia won 2-0 to keep their fourth successive clean sheet. Namibia and Tunisia have met only once in their history. This was back in 2007 in a friendly that Tunisia won 2-0.
This is Namibia’s fourth AFCON appearance. They last played in the competition in 2019 in Egypt and that appearance broke an 11-year absence from the continental stage. The Brave Warriors have never won a match at the AFCON and have lost seven of the nine games they have played. In 2019, they exited the competition without earning a single point and scored only one goal. Head coach Collin Benjamin was on the pitch the last time Namibia failed to lose at the AFCON. This was in 2008 in a 1-1 draw with Guinea. He and his charges will hope the wait for at least a point ends here. Namibia, who qualified second in their group, have struggled to win matches and have registered only two wins in 11 outings. They drew 0-0 with Ghana last time out in a friendly and now haven’t lost in two outings.

Tunisia & Namibia Squad Analysis
Tunisia will be led by captain Youssef Msakni who is approaching a century of appearances for his country. The former Esperance player now with Al-Arabi of Qatar has scored 22 times for Tunisia and is their leading scorer at present. Seven of his goals have been scored at this stage. Yassine Khenissi and Naim Sliti are others to look out for here.
Namibia’s squad comprises mainly of players (nine) plying their trades in neighbouring South Africa. Deon Hotto and Peter Shalulile are the two leading scorers in the side and have both combined for 26 goals. Shalulile, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, has bagged 16 goals for his country. He has scored nine times so far for his club this season. Joslin Kamatuka is also another to look out for here. The Maritzburg United midfielder scored Namibia’s only goal of the 2019 AFCON.

Under 2.5 goals
For our second prediction, we settle for under 2.5 goals to be scored here. Tunisia are a strong attacking side but most of their victories haven’t been goal-fests.
