At least one team from Africa will make it to the first edition of the Arab Cup in Qatar and the semi final pitting Tunisia against Egypt will decide that. The two North African rivals face off in the first semi final that marks the first meeting in three years. Tunisia have managed five wins in their last seven meetings with Egypt and they’ll be keen to advance that in the semis. Heading into this game, Tunisia trounced Oman 2-1 in the quarters. That was the second time in their four matches that both sides have managed to score and Seiffedine Jaziri managed his fourth goal of the competition. Yousef Msakni’s winning goal was his second of the competition and Tunisia, though with just one clean sheet in the tournament, have been impressive in attack.

The last time these two nations met, Egypt won 3-2 but they have been dominated by Tunisia in most of their recent meetings. Unlike Tunisia, Egypt are still unbeaten in this competition. In their quarter final clash against Jordan, they were pushed to the limit and needed to come from behind, take the game to extra time before winning 3-1. Ahmed Refaat is the only player in the team with two goals, even though Egypt have scored in each of their four matches. They have 10 goals in those four matches but have failed to keep clean sheets in the last two, first drawing 1-1 with Algeria then the 3-1 win over Jordan.
